Hey Lonnyville peeps! Just to let you know, I've moved over to Lonnyopolis now! You can find me at http://lonnyopolis.wordpress.com for the blog homepage, or visit www.laurenmorse.co.uk, which will take you straight to my portfolio (it's still under consruction, but you can visit the Lonnyopolis blog homepage from there, whichever is easiest to remember!).
I won't be updating Lonnyville anymore, but I am keeping it online. I'll still be blogging as usual, just in a different place! It's much prettier too, promise! So follow me over to Lonnyopolis; can't wait to see you there!

Journey of an Absolute Rookie
I haven't managed to post much of my own stuff for a while, and I miss it. But I'm going on holiday tomorrow, and am determined to draw more! Especially after reading this link from Spungella's blog: Journey of an Absolute Rookie.
It's about a guy, MindCandyMan, on the forums at conceptart.org, and his journey from total beginner to pretty awesome! He set himself the task of doing one sketch and one (digital) painting every day, and enrolling in some art classes. The progression he makes is astounding (skip to page 69 on the thread to see where he's at now!), and has lead me to decide that I will draw every day while I'm on holiday, see if I can reclaim my drawing skills! I've not done any life drawing, or really, any observational drawing, for at least a year, and I don't want to lose it completely. So, now is the time to get back on it and make it a habit again!

How to Steal Like an Artist...
I was blog hopping earlier today and came across this - How to Steal Like an Artist (and 9 Other Things Nobody Told Me) by Austin Kleon. I clicked the link, thinking it sounded intriguing, but didn't actually get around to reading it until much later in the day. Better late than never, though. While some of it on the surface may seem a little cliché, the guy talks a lot of sense, and it's certainly thought provoking; gives me that little nudge to get my momentum going again, to make me want to create and draw again. Maybe it'll get you going too. Read it on his blog here: How to Steal Like an Artist (and 9 Other Things Nobody Told Me)

Dr. Rocky's FRANKENBOT
Beware the Frankenbot! Second instalment of my set of limited-colour prints. This is Rocky, Peaches' boyfriend, who's unleashed a terrifying invention upon the unsuspecting locals! THE FRANKENBOT. Beware!
Working with only 4 colours, plus white for the paper, sure makes my head hurt... but problem solving is good. It seems impossible, and then you find a way around it!

New season, new look!
The new season isn't just summer; now that I've finished uni, I decided my blog needed a little updating looks-wise. I've got a website in the works, so hopefully that'll be looking all shibby and shiny soon, with a super neato custom blog attached!
Since moving away from uni - course-wise and location-wise - my motivation's dropped a little. There's only so much clearing and tidying and unpacking I can take! And it's taking a little while to get used to my new surroundings, but I can feel my old creative self coming out of hiding again! Currently, in amongst some freelance, I'm still working on my second limited-colour print, which I hope to post up by the end of this week! If I haven't, hound me until I do. It's good for me.
In the meantime, enjoy this exciting piece of toast I had a while back. Anybody found the key...?
Actually, I should totally be more excited that it's the summer! Here's to the summer, and all the excitement it brings! (even more exciting than toast with a keyhole)

SMALL AND MIGHTY THOR!
Ahhh, went to see Thor last night, was really goooooood. And you know when you see a movie and you're still in that little movie bubble you're in when you leave the cinema, all the next day....
(Can you believe it's been a year since I got this notebook! Time flies... missing Annecy this year, but making damn sure I go next year! FO SHIZZLE.)
Oh, and by the way, Lonnyville Peeps, I'm on twitter now. Yeah. Finally crossed over to the darkside. But it's kinda fun! If you wanna follow me, click HERE! Or on that nifty button over on the right!
He's got his Mleu-mleur. Oh yeah.

Peaches in Love
First time I've drawn Peaches in a long time! She's a cutie, isn't she? Also wanted to experiment with using a limited palette of colours... I'm liking it! Want to do another two to make a little set!

Peppermint Creams!
Drew this a couple months ago, and finally got round to colouring it! It was a nostalgic homage to those manga days in secondary school and the yummy peppermint creams my mum makes...

Siblings Day!
My brother and I decided to start Siblings Day, cuz we're both that awesome. This is the card I made him, featuring his face, and the two main characters from my final film.
Used: brown paper, sharpie, tip-ex, coloured pencils.

Syd & Squid's Beach Rescue
So, this marks the end of my three years at uni... boy, what an experience! I'll save my ramblings about it for another day (mostly because I want to continue to kid myself it's not really over), but here's the link to my final film. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get it totally finished in time for hand-in or the Harbour Lights screening (yes, it was shown on a big screen!) but I really want to finish it, so watch this space!

Have a Rad Birthday
Made this for my mate Dave's birthday. He loved the purple dinosaur so much, and he loves skating, so I combined them to make a super rad birthday card!

Uni Postcard Competition
Ohhh SNAP, long time no post! Did this super quick for a little competition at uni; a friend challenged me to to 'just draw whatever' and submit it. So I did. Yeah, that's right -- I DID. We'll see how it gets through the voting stage, but at least it prompted me to do something and quickly. Was fun! And I actually really like it. I'm thinking a series might be coming on... when I don't have my film deadline looming over me, that is. Only a month to go, and a shed load to do. Wish me luck!
I'm not sure he realises that eating instruments is bad... the music sounds so good, so surely it tastes good too, no?
