Musings

I'd been feeling the need to play with my inks again; usually when I have work to do, I try to ignore these wishes and instead promise to fulfill them when I have a day off (when I never feel like doing these creative things!). I'd been taking an extended break from essay writing, having been struggling with it, and figured, instead of sitting there wanting to do something creative but feeling I shouldn't cuz I ought to be writing, by the time I'd reasoned it out, I could have done something. Don't think twice; just do it. The mantra I use for work seems to fit art too: anything you do [that is remotely creative when you want to create] is better than having done nothing at all. Keeps the creative juices stirred and ready for something else later; helps it become second nature!

I'll be revisiting her later. More depth and some sweet highlights.

Drink of Choice: Redbush Tea

Gosh it still feels early and I ought to be storyboarding.

With a little nod to Gary :)
And, yes, that is a Max shortcut.

Long time no see

Well, well, well... It has been a while since I posted on here, but now I am back! In full effect.

Got some little sketches from my first Coffe Shop experience in Pret with the animation crew. I enjoyed my capuccino :)

Was linkjumping from Hans Bacher's blog (seriously, he has SO many links, it's insane), see what I could see, and came across this guy, David Hong. His digital work has such a painterly quality to it, I love it (he does also paint with traditional media); while I understand how you'd do that with real paint, I couldn't get my head around how you achieve it in Photoshop. It never had the same sort of ergonomic sense that physically putting more paint on your brush had.

So. My brother told me to play around with the different brushes in PS. So I did. And there we go, a bunch of scribbles turned out to be a tree in a field somewhere. Who'da thunk?

I'm going to investigate downloading custom brushes for PS - seems you can get all sorts: spray can runs, ones that emulate watercolour, paint splats, curly victorian-esque decorative bits... I'll post up here any that I find; and if anyone knows of any good sites already, let me know :)

Totally Film!

Aaaaaaaaaahhhh I so want to see this! It's coming out in France the 22nd of July, so maybe it'll make it's way over here too!! Even if I go by myself, I want to see it on the big screen. I spent many of my teenage years glued to the tv when it was on, and would plead with my parents to allow me to tape Totally Spies Days on Jetix (or back then, Fox Kids)... I haven't watched it on tv for ages, but now, I could say I'm watching it for reference, its educational value, blah blah blah... Or maybe, secretly, I do still love it.

Who's up for a trip to the cine?
